Discover the charm and rich heritage of Jogwad Village, where tradition meets community.
Jogwad Primary School was established on January 6, 1906, and is managed by the District Panchayat Education Committee, Navsari. Located in a Jogwad Village, rural area under the Chikhli block of Navsari district, Gujarat, the school provides education from Grades 1 to 8. It follows a co-educational system but does not have an attached pre-primary section. The medium of instruction is Gujarati, and the academic session begins in April each year.
The school has a government-owned building with six classrooms for instructional purposes, all of which are in good condition. Additionally, it has two other rooms for non-teaching activities and a separate room for the Headmaster/Teacher. The school is secured by a barbed wire fencing boundary wall and has an electric connection.
For drinking water, the school has a functional tap water supply. It also has one boys' toilet and one girls' toilet, both of which are operational. There is a playground for students, and the school library contains 341 books.
The school is equipped with three laptops, three digital smart boards, and Wi-Fi to support teaching and learning activities. Additionally, it has a computer-aided learning lab.
A mid-day meal is provided to students, though it is not prepared on the school premises. For girls in Grades 6 to 8, the school offers self-defense training.
New student admissions take place in the month of June. Over the years, more than 3,045 students have received their education at Jogwad Primary School.

Government
Jogwad Primary School was established on January 6, 1906. At that time, it was under the authority of the Surat District Local Board, as Navsari had not yet become a separate district.
Initially, the school was located at Fulat Street, where a Balwadi (kindergarten) operated. However, the building was in poor condition and required improvements.
To address this issue, a new Gujarati school was constructed next to Yusufali Suleman Desai’s house, where the primary school is located today. Initially, it offered Grades 1 to 4. The land for the school was originally owned by the Jogwad Sunni Muslim Jamat (community). The Jogwad Jamat sold the land to the Surat District Local Board, allowing for the construction of the school. With the help of a government grant and additional funds contributed by the villagers, four classrooms were built.
In 1953, the new building of the Jumma Mosque was inaugurated, with Revenue Minister Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (1894-1954) present at the event. During this occasion, he also inaugurated the new building of the Gujarati School.
Due to financial constraints, the school’s flooring was initially made of smeared clay. During this period, Fakirahmad Asmalji Mulla, who had returned from South Africa, donated ₹1,500. This donation was used to install stone slab flooring, which remains intact to this day. In 1957, the school expanded further with the addition of three more classrooms.
Jogwad Primary School played a vital role in the education of children from nearby villages, as it was the only school in the surrounding area. Students from Chitali, Bodwank, Chasa, Kumkotar, Kankriya, Kangwai, Bhoriya, Nagdhara, and Saraiyya attended this school for their primary education.
At one point, the government proposed upgrading Jogwad Primary School to include a high school. However, the residents of Jogwad village opposed the plan due to concerns about the potential deterioration of the village’s social atmosphere. As a result, a ban was imposed on constructing a high school in Jogwad. Instead, a high school was later built in Kangwai village by Mast Mangera Saheb.
In 2011, the Gujarat government restructured the education system by moving Grade 8 from secondary schools and merging it into primary schools.
Jogwad Primary School continues to serve as a pillar of education for the village, preserving its rich history and legacy while providing quality education to future generations.
